Electronics

Our extensive list of electronics services include rewiring and electrical panels, battery and charging systems, full DC and AC systems, AIS, installations including GPS, chart plotters, RADAR, radios, autopilots, on board computer systems, etc.

Mechanical

Our mechanical specialists have expertise in diesel engine and generator service, repair, rebuild, and re-power. In addition we are trained in the repair and installation of refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating systems, fuel systems as well as all manner of plumbing, pumps, water makers, and head systems.

Finish Work

Our paint/spray crew has experience with Marine enamels, varnishes, linear polyurethanes, Awlgrip, Alexseal coatings, etc. Our crew is trained in the surface preparation for each type of medium and is able to produce high quality finishes regardless of the type of project. In addition we specialize in required fairing on hulls resulting from extensive repair projects and new construction. Our paint crew comes to the task be it for yearly varnish maintenance, high gloss topsides or “race ready” bottoms.

Johanson Boatworks offers a 1440-square-foot, state-of-the-art spray-painting bay at our yacht service yard on Route 90 (Farwell Drive) in Rockland. This steel building enables us to paint yachts up to 55 feet long in a dedicated, climate-controlled environment which is removed from other projects and unaffected by outdoor weather.

Key components to our consistently smooth and flawless paint jobs are the isolation of the spray bay, together with the highly efficient heat make-up system that warms incoming air to maintain a constant temperature even in the dead of winter, as well as exhaust fans that immediately remove any overspray. An extensive lighting system ensures the accuracy of every paint application.

Fiberglass

Our fiberglass technicians complete all phases of fiberglass repair, and custom tooling of hulls, decks, and components. Our crew has been involved in projects ranging from minor gel coat repairs to complete rebuilds of superstructures, and in addition they are trained in identifying and re-coring wet and delaminated areas, and reinforcing weak areas due to design flaws. New construction includes complete finishing of bare hulls, forming complete decks.

Carpentry

Our craftsmen are skilled in all aspects of boat carpentry and capable of making any repairs existing woodwork as well as more extensive projects such as new decks, custom cabinetry and complete interior rebuilds. We have expertise with hardwoods, cored light weight panels, wood veneered panels, cold molding, laminating, new and replacement decking and various other mediums.

Rigging

Our rigging services include rig inspection and replacement of standing and running rigging, hardware assembly and replacement, metal fabrication of pulpits and brackets, splicing, tuning, lifeline work, winch and Furler installation and service.

Inspections

Our quality control officer provides a variety of inspections. During the winter months, all life rafts, EPIRBs, and safety equipment are inspected to ensure our customers’ safety on the water. Prior to spring launch, every boat is thoroughly inspected to confirm all work orders have been fulfilled.

Sails/Canvas/Cushions

Our sail loft has ever-growing services: cushions, canvas, awning, bimini’s, new bent frames, etc. Not only do we provide newly built items, but we also repair and care for existing canvas, cushions, and sails. Repairs can range from restitching to isinglass. In addition, we offer cleaning services for canvas, cushions, and sails. These items are meticulously cleaned, waterproofed, and then stored in our sail loft. We also perform full, interior cleans for boats, including mold and mildew removal, deep cleaning, stainless polishing, and detailed organizing.

Cleaning

Cleaning involves removing dirt, dust, and impurities from surfaces to maintain a tidy and hygienic environment. It includes tasks like sweeping, mopping, wiping, vacuuming, and sanitizing various areas. Regular cleaning helps prevent the spread of germs, improves air quality, and creates a pleasant and organized space for daily living or working.

Winter Storage: The Best Option for Your Boat

We offer exceptional winter storage and maintenance services, including safe transportation of your boat from the mooring to our storage facilities and back again. Each season, over 110 yacht owners trust us with their boats for winterization and storage services. We provide both inside storage and outside shrink-wrapped coverings.
